community nourishment
We are a cooperative community garden in downtown Tacoma and a 2020 recipient of a Tacoma Creates grant for educational outreach. Stewards work together to grow and share produce. 50% of what we grow is donated to support food security in our neighborhood.
Learn new skills and enjoy the garden! We have volunteer hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You can commit for the season as a garden steward or drop-in for a day. We welcome all helping hands! All volunteers share in part of the harvest after we donate our bounty to local food banks. Send us a message if you would like more information!

FREE COMMUNITY EVENT
We have spent the season growing a large variety from slicers, to paste, cherry, and all kinds of heirloom. These tomatoes were started from seed right here in Hilltop and grown all season in our garden beds and pots. Learn about how to grow your own tomatoes and discuss the takeaways from our season of growing. Learn about our mission of food security in the neighborhood. Come taste the garden before we put it to bed for the season.
TALK WITH OUR GARDENERS
This community event is a place to share your experiences and talk with our Master Gardeners and volunteers! We are here to share knowledge and support gardeners of all skill levels. Not just about tomatoes. We love questions. You can also enjoy our YouTube channel for more. There will be plenty of information available at the event for you to learn what you like, tomatoes you may be interested in growing next season, seeds to share, as well as information on our next fundraiser plant sale if starts are more your thing.
WHEN & WHERE
This event is in the garden on our plaza. Look for the white popup tents. This event happens rain or shine. We have plenty of tomatoes but feel free to bring your own, labeled with the variety, if you have enough to share.
