What We're Doing
We created a partnership with two high school science programs, one at Mt. Tahoma High School and one at Oakland High School. During the Fall of 2020, students will begin coming to the garden to help clean and prepare beds. In January, students will help with seed starting and up-potting in preparation for our plant sale in the spring. Also in the spring, Gallucci Garden will become more active as a learning site for high school biology and computer science courses. In the meantime, stewards from GLG will experiment with growing winter vegetables in hoop houses at another site in town. Oakland HS computer science are exploring ways to remotely collect weather data with sensing controllers for both the main garden and the hoop houses.
Our interactive Children's Garden will open in Spring 2023.
